Special Event Info: The 2010 New Moon Women's Event in the U.S. Virgin Islands (Feb. 13-19, 2010)

The New Decade brought in by a full, blue moon. Read this interesting sentiment...

As many of you know, I study with Erich Schiffmann once a year in Yellow Springs, OH.This past Labor Day, he recorded our 3-day workshop on DVD and I just received it. It is 9.2 hours - most of the time we all spent together. I'm anxious to listen to it and practice some of the things I haven't yet incorporated into our classes (or my personal practice).

Today, I received an email from Erich about a new APP for your iPod that has 20 meditations (from 1-60 minutes long) for just $4.99. Erich's brother did this for him and it sounds really cool. Feel free to buy it and try it. Now if I only had an iPod instead of a Blackberry.....

Yoga instructors at Daily Yoga

It is our belief as yoga teachers that not every teacher is perfect for every student. Please come to a class with an open heart and an open mind. If you find that the style or class is not to your liking, please do NOT judge yoga as something that is not for you. Instead, give another teacher, whether one of us or someone from another studio, a try. We know that you will find the teacher and style that match your needs and wants.

Namaste,
Diane, Anne, and Tina

Tina DiCillo
440-488-0847
fourth_path@yahoo.com

Tina's Thursday night Hatha Yoga class is in a Vinyasa Flow style. Class usually starts with a discussion of yoga philosophy and a period of meditation followed by sun salutations. We then follow the theme of the class through various standing, balancing, seated and inverted poses. It is an all levels class in which everyone is encouraged to find and honor their appropriate level of practice. Emphasis is placed on the breath, alignment of the body and feeling the flow of energy in the asanas. A spirit of community pervades in which all the students can express themselves, offer support to one another, grow and learn together in the practice of yoga on and off the mat.

Tina also teaches Core Body Awareness. This class is for those who want to delve deeply into their bodies to discover how their patterns of muscular holding and tightness result in misalignments of the body. Get to know yourself from the inside out and live more freely in the body you have been gifted with for this lifetime!

Tina is also available for private, small group or 'yoga party' instrucions. Please contact her for more details.

Diane Lees
(440) 729-2499
info@hubbub.com

Diane first practiced yoga in her early thirties. She found the experiences wonderful, but teachers and time were limited. After the death of her mother in 1999, Diane came back to yoga, reminded that being at peace and being healthy is vital to a long and happy life. She quickly learned that yoga was to be a fundamental part of her life.

She immersed herself in classes and training becoming a Registered Yoga Teacher with Jan Hauenstein’s Try4Life training at Ursuline’s Sofia Center. She is registered with Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level and continues to work with other teachers in workshops and regular classes to further her knowledge and her teaching methods.

Diane’s philosophy is simple – breathe, stretch, relax, and stay open to the possibilities that are around you all the time. She guides her students through a classic practice allowing each to find that place that works in the moment.

Every class includes time for relaxation, breath-work, balancing, and stretching-strengthening postures. Diane’s background includes 30+ years in the bicycling industry working with athletes and athletic injuries including back, neck, hand-wrist-arm, hip, and knee issues. Diane welcomes all ages and levels.

She is the owner of The Yoga Path, LLC, and teaches classes in Hatha yoga. Her classes are open to all levels and include a blend of breathing (pranayama), postures (asanas) and Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep/relaxation). Class FAQs:

What to Bring

A yoga mat, blanket, yoga strap or a belt, and a cushion. You may use a towel or other floor covering, but will probably find a sticky mat a little more comfortable.

What to Wear

wear loose, comfortable clothing. Stretchy is good too! Bring socks, although you may find being barefoot easier for some postures. You will warm up, so you might want to wear a couple of layers.

What to Expect

expect to feel good when you leave! Yoga is the perfect prescription for mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. We will be using the breath, traditional yoga asanas (postures) along with vinyasa (flowing) sequences, and meditation-relaxation at the beginning and end of each class.

Women Specific

If you are pregnant, certain poses are not recommended at certain times during your pregnancy. I will recommend a prenatal yoga class or work with you to make certain you honor you and your baby's well-being during each trimester. If you are menstruating, I recommend that you skip practice or come prepared for restorative and gentle poses only.

Yoga for Cycling:

Should yoga be used after cycling?

Here is what my teacher, Jan, says: "I believe that yoga is appropriate in every life style & it can only enhance. We awaken with tight muscles & body, so taking a tight body on a cycling adventure could be hazardous and cause injury. Stretching, limbering & warming the muscles prior & following would be beneficial & act as preventive medicine. And, a gentle routine following cycling along with a delicious soak in a hot tub or bath would be soothing to the muscles & body & likewise prevent injury & achy muscles."

Click here for a 30 minute sequence for cyclists as a pre-ride warm-up.
